If you want to sound smart when you criticize Israel, you will use this jargon

Some of the most popular catchwords used in anti-semitic criticism of Israel can be found in their introduction:

• systemic violence
• structural discrimination
• settler colonial regime that imposes severe restrictions and violates human rights on a daily basis.

Middlesex University Sociology professor, Vincenzo Ruggiero, wrote that:

Systemic violence refers to the harm people suffer from the social structure and the institutions sustaining and reproducing it. This type of violence prevents its victims from satisfying their basic needs, and is an avoidable impairment of the fundamental means necessary for human existence.

Likely the author of the article under examination here would claim that the institution sustaining the social structure is the Israeli occupation in that Israel supposedly blockades Gaza and whose checkpoints in Judea & Samaria restrict free movement of residents of the PA from town to town. However, The Washington Post notes that

Although the West Bank and Gaza remain under Israeli occupation, main population centers in those territories are governed autonomously by the Palestinian Authority and Hamas.
