This MK should be disqualified.
This should be enough to get this man thrown out of the Knesset and prevented from ever running again. Sami Abu Shehada of the Joint List, you know, the party bloc that Gantz’s party bloc, Blue&White, wants to rely on for forming a minority government, uploaded a blessing to the mothers of terrorists in honour of Mother’s Day that was celebrated in the Palestinian Authority last Saturday. According to Im Tirzu, the video was first exposed by Makor Rishon reporter Assaf Gibor.
My translation into English is below the tweet.

I want to send a special message to the mothers of Palestinian prisoners and to the mothers of the male and female political prisoners in all the prisons. You are those who are being remembered these days for your suffering. You are going through difficult times. I want to tell you that we admire you very much for the heroic task and effort that you are performing. Thank-you and Happy Holiday.
Im Tirzu is a Zionist NGO supporting the Jewish democratic State of Israel. In response to the message of support to terrorists’ mothers by a legislator in the Israeli Knesset, the Arab Desk of Im Tirzu decried the attempts to use the Joint List in building support for their anti-Bibi coalition:
This unholy alliance is a slap in the faces of the victims of terror, and all those who took part in it should be ashamed of themselves.
I would add that this unholy alliance is a slap in the faces of all Israelis.
For a reminder, here is the law that stipulates who can be disqualified from running for Knesset:
A candidates’ list shall not participate in elections to the Knesset, and a person shall not be a candidate for election to the Knesset, if the objects or actions of the list or the actions of the person, expressly or by implication, include one of the following:
- negation of the existence of the State of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state;
- incitement to racism;
- support of armed struggle, by a hostile state or a terrorist organization, against the State of Israel.
It seems that Shehada is supporting the armed struggle against the State of Israel when he praises the mothers of terrorists. However, until now, the law has been used to disqualify Jews — but not Arabs, who have been given a free hand to oppose the state in whose legislature they ‘serve’. The Israeli Supreme Court has dismissed cases when the Knesset Elections Committee has disqualified MKs from running, such as recently happened regarding Heba Yazbak.
To see some of the mothers Shehada is praising, read my article, “Mothers of Martyrs — Excusing Or Promoting Terrorism, Or Something Else“.

He and his supporters in the media and the courts need to be tarred and feathered and run out town on a rail.
