Is US Holding Israel’s Iron Dome Hostage to an Iran Nuke Deal?
US political horse-trading and amoral ideologies — by a few members on the Republican side of the aisle but many on the Democratic side — are currently holding hostage the very lives and immediate safety of not only the residents of the Gaza Envelope and northern border area but ALL Israeli citizens: Jews, Muslims, Christians, Druze, Beduin, and other minorities.
We’re talking, conservatively, about some two million Israelis — and, in fact, most of Israel’s 9.5 million citizens at this point — being held at increasingly accurate knife-point due to strap-on guidance kits Iran is smuggling into Lebanon, to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps arrayed in Syria (despite Israel’s best military and intel efforts to interdict and destroy both along the way and in-theater) and — according to Iranian media and some local sources — into Gaza, along with UAV and other asymmetric-warfare gear.
It’s a damning indictment of the behind-the-scenes arm-twisting to which the government of Israel apparently acquiesces, time and again, at the hands of often ideologically well-meaning, and just as often apparently mendacious, top echelon figures among both the Democratic Congressional lefties and by now, righty Senate leaders.
We see you, we hear you, and your deeds and misdeeds are clear.
But last summer’s political arson-on-the-Potomac in the wake of the May month-long conflict which saw over four thousand rockets fired at civilian metropolitan areas is still smoldering, unresolved. The regional conflagration it could yet ignite apparently remains, seriously and serially misunderstood by the US Administration and its cohorts.
If the State of Israel is hit by incoming rockets or payload-carrying UAVs and cannot respond with the strictly defensive Iron Dome Tamir interceptors, the government and IDF will have no other choice but to respond with far more kinetic firepower than anything seen so far — and at targets near and very far — in order to suppress and stop deadly salvos on heavily-populated civilian areas and at strategic facilities across the homefront.
However, as reported in WIN, a letter sent to the Senate by American Jewish organization argues that:
Rebuilding the supply of interceptor missiles takes time, due to the relatively slow manufacturing process, with cost being an inhibitor. On the other hand, terror groups like Hamas, Hezbollah, and PIJ [Palestinian Islamic Jihad] use less sophisticated rockets that are manufactured quickly, at a much lower cost, but that are no less deadly.
As a nearly-two-decade IDF artillery NCO and infantry grunt (St.Sgt.- ret.) who served in and around Gaza, and as a two-decade reporter in Israel — trust me when I say that all the sanctimonious caterwauling over previous IDF pinpoint strikes on terror targets on and cross-border will be deafened into silence by the unleashed fury out of Zion, that will seek to stop them before they are even launched.
So please understand: With the howling existential threats uttered by Iranian-financed, -trained, and- led regional proxies — Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and now, even the Houthis in Yemen — with their determination to eradicate us, the countdown to the next steel rainstorm is ticking very loudly in our ears these days.
And that ticking and the hard rain that’s gonna’ fall will be felt even harder and louder in Gaza City, Beirut, and Tehran, too.
So forgive us for listening out of only one ear, and for our growing indifference to the supercilious knowing “what’s best for us” hectoring, the “America first!” jingoism, and the unrequited “tough love” poems anguishedly penned from six thousand miles away trying to make us come to heel so that our erstwhile “supporters” and “allies” can feel comfy in their virtual, virtuous moral Disneyland while we bleed real blood due to withheld defensive measures.
We will not apologize for any measures taken in the wake of such an unspoken embargo to protect our own families and homes, and the sole Jewish homeland, against foes sworn and bent on our collective destruction. Bennett said as much when he addressed the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defence Committee for the first time on 10 Jan 2022:
Israel is shifting to consistent offense and not just consistent defense.
