Arab MKs Betray Their Country and Electorate
There can be reasons for a politician to make a condolence call to the family of a murderer. Sometimes such a family may turn to an elected official seeking advice and information. Such a visit would not be a condolence visit and would likely take place in the MKs office, if at all.
If the family deplores the act of their murderer relative and seeks to express regret and sorrow to our nation for the tragic crime, there can be meaning to visiting them.
If, however, the family is proud of the murder and sees nothing wrong with it, then wild horses should not be able to bring a politician from the victims’ side of the border to the murderers’ families’ doorstep. But that is what we saw when three Israeli Arab MKs offered support to the families of murderers of Israelis in a meeting in Ramallah. Did they truly represent their electorate by attending that meeting? It is time for the Arab citizens of Israel to stand up and show here they stand. Khaled Abu Tomeh tells why in this article.
